Exploring Practical Theology: Welcome!
Welcome to my journey through learning about practical theology and theological reflection. You may want to read my blog entries first to get an idea of the history of practical theology as well as the evolution of my thinking on the subject. The case studies section is my attempt to apply the practice of theological reflection to non-traditional wedding rituals.
I hope anyone who comes to this site benefits from my exploration of practical theology, but I have specifically targeted this blog towards two groups:
1) Those who are looking for an introduction to the academic and professional field of practical theology and;
2) Those who wonder how the Christian disciplines of practical theology and theological reflection are relevant in a pluralistic and increasingly secular (or at a minimum, religiously unaffiliated) world.
I hope that this website meets the following needs of this group:
Access to resources, scholarship, and tools from the field of practical theology.
An introduction to the practices and ideas of practical theology.
Tools for navigating historical traditions, fluid cultural contexts, and diverse personal experiences that many of us encounter everyday.
How the disciple of practical theology can have relevance outside of schools of theology.
